As summer comes to end, I’m looking at the highlights of my summer photography where we spent long days in Alaskan wilderness with 20 hour sun, clouds of bugs, gravity water filters, and amazing wildlife.

Yankanuck Island #georgianbay #ontario #drone #dji #lakehuron

My favorite spot on the face of the Earth filled with friends, family, Labatt beers, and fish. I've been going to Yankanuck island since I was 4 and worked as a "dock boy" here for a couple of summers.
The windswept pines on top of exposed granite and quartzite carved out by glaciation relatively recently is one of the most picturesque environments I've been lucky enough to experience!

Man and (baby) whale. Pictured is Gene Flipse in the late winter of 2017 when a female calf played with us swimmers for over an hour in what is one of the best experiences of my life. Thinking about my next trip to get in the water with my favorites creatures again! If anyone is interested in planning an excursion - LMK. I am very drawn to sperm whales at the moment!

I have about 2 hours of shaky, slightly out of focus video of these 2 bears eating clam after clam on the beaches of Katmai. It was a wonderful backdrop to sit and observe this feeding during high light with @toddframephotography.

first wolf encounter of my life in Alaska a few weeks back! you always think “oh I guess we could see wolves” but never think it a real possibility. we were blown away seeing them interact with grizzlies, scale hillsides in what seemed like seconds, and send scouts around massive areas looking for their next meal. These were coastal (sea) wolves (I think?) and particularly light in color.

nothing wrong with this baby great horned owl! Called an owl pellet for those interested in their digestion process!

It’s a bear photo people. It’s straightforward. It’s a bear pretty much center of the frame with some green grass. The bear is walking.

beautiful pacific loon found near #anchorage with @benjaminolsonphotography #pacificloon #loon #alaska #anchorage #naturephotography #birds

Back in civilization after a great trip to the beaches of #katmai #alaska seeing grizzlies feeding on clams and sedge grass while competing for a mate (or trying to get rid of courters they weren’t happy with!)
Great fun and plenty of jokes with @benjaminolsonphotograph @stevelefkophoto @ryan.pennesi.photography @toddframephotography
